Coming up in a series of 3 blogs, we are lucky to have Kris Wyld, producer of East West 101 give us her insight into the creative processes behind Season One and Season Two. In her final blog she'll run through some student exercises which can be used in conjunction with East West 101, to show how this crime drama can be used from educational perspective.
Have you used any contemporary crime drama in demonstrating a lesson or raise discussion? We'd love to hear which program you used, and what your feedback is - did it achieve what you wanted?
In East West 101, Zane Malik is a young detective at the Major Crime Squad. He is also a Muslim. And as a Muslim detective in a post 9/11 world where just to be an Arab, is to arouse suspicion and fear, Malik feels under pressure to prove himself, over and over.
Season 1 will commence on SBS Tuesday August 18 at 8.30pm. NEW Season 2 follows immediately and PREMIERES September 29 at 8.30pm.
