The EnhanceTV Community was developed using Ning social media platform. Here are our tips to get you started:
Tip 1: Start a discussion forum:
The site will become more valuable and useful to educators as more
forum posts
are added. We encourage teachers and librarians to please find the
time to contribute by starting a discussion about a TV program,
uploading notes, as well as commenting on those of others.
Tip 2: Get forum updates
Keep track of all forum activity by subscribing to the
RSS feed , or go to the specific discussion you are interested
in and select the RSS feed at the bottom of that page.
Tip 3: Help build the Community
Invite
others who use film/TV programs in class, or who's job it is to
source AV material. The site has only just launched and being
noticed by educators, so please bear with us in these early
days.
Tip 4: Who are you?
Create your profile page, you
can even modify it to your own style, and add your own widgets and
rss feeds. If you already have a blog on another site, then you can
add an RSS feed to iton your page. In our
Introductions Forum - let us know who you are and where you are
from, what subject area you teach, and what's the last program you
used in class.
Tip 5: Select your Privacy level
You can select who sees your information on your profile, "my
page", forums and blogs.
Tip 6: Submit a blog
There are two ways to submit a blog. You can create a blog in
"my page"
(which keeps track of all your blog posts), or on the general
blog
page (which features everyone's blogs). Here are some blog topic
ideas. You can also subscribe to the
RSS feed from the EnhanceTV Community so you can read the
latest blog posts.
Tip 7: Tag and share relevant links
Want to share articles, sites or blogs you've found on using TV and
film and the classroom? Please tag them with 'enhancetv', so that
when you or other members of the EnhanceTV Community search using
enhancetv as a keyword, you'll see a collection of links that we've
all contributed towards. If you're not sure what deli.cio.us is or
how to use it - check out these tips on using
deli.cio.us from Sue Water's Mobile Technology for TAFE
site.
Tip 8: Upload video
If your class has produced a short video - perhaps even won awards
for it, and you'd like to show other educators, upload the video -
Ning will convert it for the web.
Tip 9: Add relevant events
Do you know of any events for educators using TV and film in class?
Add
them here.
