Hi all,
I've been working with AV material for my whole teaching career (19 years) as both a Media Teacher and the AV Resources Teacher Librarian. I would love to speak to anyone who has tips and ideas on how to best go about changing a Library full of VHS videos (1000's across 3 campuses) to an up-to-date AV Library. Conversions have begun but if anyone knows a quick and easy way to convert, please let me know.

Hi Mary, I'm using Clickview 24/7 which is fantastic, but a big investment. It makes all the files digital. The videos all have to be placed in real time through the DVD player into the programme. I don't know of any 'quick and easy' way to do it!! Let me know if you find one!

Thanks Christine. Clickview is something I was looking at along with MediaEdge. Yes, all a big investment and I doubt there's a quicker way to convert VHS quickly. You would probably have to pay an arm and a leg for the technology.

Clickview does have a facility to load old VHS directly into it but it is impossible to remove the time-consuming element because of the analogue nature of VHS. However Clickview also has the Clickview Exchange with over 3000 recorded-from-TV programs on it. Many of the programs you want to convert may be available from there. All you would have to do is download from the Exchange and that is much easier than doing the VHS conversion. Many of the programs on the Exchange are also edited (ie ads, extraneous material removed) and are far better technically (picture/sound quality) than anything on your VHS tapes.
